Basil Squid

Indonesia is rich with spices, and its richness have made us popular among other countries, the combinations of spices and the fragrant of kemangi gives an extra fragrant and the taste are quite amazing…you can also replace this with Chicken, fish or even prawn..


  • 450 grams of squid the size of a small
  • 3 stems of basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 pieces of red chilli, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sour
  • 125 cc of water
  • ½ teaspoon salt and pepper
  • Cooking oil to taste
  • The Paste:
  • 2 pieces of red chilli
  • 1 stalk lemongrass, sliced
  • 4 items hazelnut
  • ½ tsp shrimp paste
  • ½ teaspoon coriander
  • 2 cm ginger
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 4 pieces of red onion

Instructions

  • Marinate squid with lime juice, let stand briefly
  • Heat oil and saute until fragrant spice paste then add the  calamari and enter the water. Reduce heat, and cook until done  (not to over cook)
  • Add basil leaves, tamarind, chili. Cook until wilted basil leaves is wilt and gives that strong aroma
  • Then season with salt and pepper
  • Serve
